How to Take Corporate Diwali Gifting Orders on Shopify
For many Indian D2C brands, Diwali brings a second kind of customer: companies buying gifts for employees and clients. These orders are large, come with GST invoice requests, custom branding and lists of delivery addresses, and usually arrive by email and WhatsApp rather than through the store. This guide explains how to take corporate gifting orders on Shopify properly, which B2B features your plan already includes, and what to set up before the Diwali rush.
Plan and feature details are from Shopify's B2B features by plan page in the Shopify Help Centre, checked on 6 October 2026. Diwali falls on 8 November 2026.
Why handle corporate gifting through Shopify at all?
Because email and spreadsheets do not scale past a handful of orders. A typical corporate gifting season without a system looks like this: a buyer emails asking for a quote, someone builds it in a spreadsheet, prices change, the buyer revises quantities twice, the order is keyed into Shopify by hand, and the GST invoice goes out with the wrong company name. Multiply that by twenty companies in three weeks and mistakes are certain.
Running corporate orders through Shopify puts them in the same place as your stock, your invoices and your fulfilment. Stock is reserved correctly, the order history is kept for next year, and your courier integrations handle the shipping. It also means a returning corporate customer can reorder next Diwali in minutes.
Which Shopify B2B features do you get on your plan?
More than many merchants realise. According to Shopify's B2B features by plan page, companies, catalogs, net payment terms, self-serve ordering and Shopify Flow automations are available on the Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus plans. The main differences:
| Feature | Basic, Grow, Advanced | Plus |
|---|---|---|
| Company profiles and locations | Yes | Yes |
| Quantity rules and quantity price breaks | Yes | Yes |
| Net payment terms, PO numbers, draft orders | Yes | Yes |
| B2B market catalogs | Up to 3 active across all B2B markets | Unlimited |
| Catalogs for an individual company | No | Yes |
| Deposits, partial payments, payment per fulfilment | No | Yes |
| Contextual checkout and storefront customisation through Markets | Advanced only | Yes |
For most D2C brands doing corporate gifting at Diwali, the non-Plus feature set is enough: one corporate catalog with gifting prices and quantity breaks, company profiles for each buyer, and draft orders for quotes. Plus becomes worth it when you need different prices for each company or deposits on large orders. We go deeper on this in our guides to B2B without Shopify Plus and B2B on every plan for D2C brands.
How should a corporate gifting order flow work?
A simple flow that works for most brands:
- Enquiry. A corporate gifting page on your store with a short form: company name, GSTIN, quantity, budget per gift, branding needs and delivery date. This replaces scattered emails and WhatsApp messages.
- Company profile. Create the buyer as a company in Shopify, with its billing details and one or more locations.
- Quote as a draft order. Build the quote as a draft order with the gifting prices and send it as an invoice. Revisions happen on the same draft, so there is one version of the truth.
- Payment. Either the buyer pays the invoice online, or you set net payment terms for trusted companies so the order is recorded with payment due later.
- Fulfilment. The order flows into your normal courier and warehouse process.
- Reorder. Next year, the company, its prices and its past orders are already there.
If corporate buyers come back often, give them a login. Self-serve ordering lets an approved company buyer log in, see their catalog prices and place orders themselves, including quick order lists for repeat items.

How do you price gifting orders by quantity?
With a B2B catalog and quantity price breaks rather than discount codes. A catalog holds the prices a group of buyers sees. Quantity price breaks lower the unit price as the order grows, and quantity rules set a minimum order and the pack size, for example a minimum of 25 hampers in multiples of 5.
Using a catalog instead of a discount code has three advantages for gifting. The corporate price never leaks to retail customers. Price breaks show up automatically, so buyers see the saving for ordering more. And because non-Plus plans allow up to 3 active B2B market catalogs, you can keep one for corporate gifting and still have room for wholesale or distributors.
Keep the price breaks simple. Three tiers are easier to quote and to understand than eight.
How do you handle GST invoices for corporate buyers?
Corporate buyers almost always want a GST invoice with their company name and GSTIN, so they can claim input tax credit. Getting this wrong means reissued invoices and delayed payments in the busiest weeks of the year.
- Capture the buyer's GSTIN, legal name and billing address on the company profile, not in an order note.
- Make sure your invoice app or template prints the buyer's GSTIN and the correct place of supply, which decides whether IGST or CGST and SGST apply.
- If your accounts run on Tally, sync orders so the corporate invoices land there without retyping.
Our GST setup guide for Shopify covers the tax settings, and our article on Shopify and Tally integration covers the accounting side.
What about branding, custom notes and many delivery addresses?
These are the parts of corporate gifting that the standard store does not handle on its own, so plan them in advance:
- Logo branding and custom cards. Collect the logo file and message as part of the enquiry, then record them on the draft order. If buyers order themselves, a product option or line item field can capture the message, and a file upload app can take the logo.
- Many delivery addresses. A Shopify order ships to one address. When a company wants gifts sent to fifty employees at home, the usual approach is to take the address list as a spreadsheet and create one order per address, or to use your courier platform's bulk shipment upload. Agree which method you will use before you quote, because it affects shipping cost.
- Delivery deadline. Write the required delivery date on the quote and plan dispatch backward from it, allowing for courier delays in the festive week.
- Stock reservation. Large corporate orders can empty a product your retail customers expect to buy. Decide in advance how much stock is available for corporate orders.
Should corporate orders run on your main store or a separate one?
For most brands, the main store. Shopify's B2B features are designed to run retail and business buyers side by side: retail customers see retail prices, logged-in company buyers see their catalog prices, and both draw from the same stock and the same order list. That keeps inventory accurate, which matters in a season when one large corporate order can take a big share of a product.
A separate store, often called an expansion store, makes sense when the corporate business is genuinely different: a different product range, different branding, or a separate team running it. The cost is a second store to maintain, with inventory and orders that have to be kept in sync. For a D2C brand adding corporate gifting for the festive season, that is usually more overhead than the business needs.
What mistakes do brands make with corporate gifting orders?
- Quoting before checking stock. A quote for 500 hampers is a promise. Check what you can actually make and ship by the delivery date before sending it.
- Using a discount code for corporate prices. Codes get shared. A catalog keeps corporate prices visible only to the companies you approve.
- Leaving GST details to the end. Collect the GSTIN at enquiry, not after dispatch, or invoices have to be reissued.
- Forgetting the retail customer. If corporate orders use up a bestseller, your Diwali retail sales suffer. Set aside stock for both.
What should you set up before the Diwali rush?
A practical list for October:
- Create a corporate gifting page with the enquiry form, sample hampers and minimum order quantities.
- Set up one B2B catalog with gifting prices, quantity rules and two or three price breaks.
- Prepare a draft order template for quotes, with your payment terms and delivery notes.
- Check that invoices print the buyer's GSTIN and correct tax split.
- Decide how you will handle bulk addresses and custom branding.
- Test the whole flow with a dummy company, from enquiry to invoice to shipment.
